Hi there folks - this is Alex Willen, founder of Cooper's Treats. We're making some big changes as we head into the holiday season, and I'm incredibly excited to share a little behind-the-scenes look at what's happening around here.

Cooper's Treats So Far

Before we look forward, I'd like to take a quick look back. I founded Cooper's Treats in May of 2020 (I was originally going to start a dog boarding business, but in early 2020 that suddenly started to look like a questionable plan), and while I didn't know what to expect, our first year's results were incredibly exciting. Not only did we end up reaching more customers than I expected, but the feedback was also incredibly heartening. Folks were thrilled to have not only a new and unique kind of dog treat, but also one that is made in America with high-quality ingredients.

While 2020 was amazing, 2021 has been nothing short of inspiring. We've sold more than 20 times what we did in 2020 already, and the feedback we've received from our customers (especially the pictures of dogs eating Pupsicles) has continued to bring smiles to our faces.

I'm looking forward to this holiday season more than I have since I was a kid. So with that, let's talk about our first exciting development.

Turkey and Cinnamon Baked Biscuit Mix

That's right - we're launching a new flavor for the first time since we launched Baked Biscuit Mix. It's got all the whole, high-quality ingredients you'd expect - freeze-dried turkey, cinnamon, whole egg protein, powdered milk and whole wheat flour.

So why did we decide to introduce a new flavor now? Well, let's start with the bad news - our Lamb and Mint Baked Biscuit Mix is going away soon. Moving forward, our Baked Biscuit Starter Kits will contain Turkey and Cinnamon plus Beef and Cheddar. You'll still be able to buy Lamb and Mint for now, but once we run out of stock, that'll be it.

To explain why, I'd like to give you a little peek into our operations.

Bigger, Better Manufacturing

With so many orders coming in, our current manufacturing setup has struggled to keep pace. We've sold out a few times, and with a big holiday season upcoming, the last thing we want to do is run out of treat mix when there are very good dogs that need very good presents!

That's why we've spent the last few months moving our production to a bigger, better factory in Denver, Colorado. Here's me with part of our first shipment from the new factory (and a hairnet that really shows off my enormous forehead):

On top of that, we've also partnered with a new logistics company, and we've added warehouses in Kentucky and Arizona to ensure that we can ship to anywhere in the US in just a few days.

So how does all of this relate to our new flavor? Part of the reason we've been working on all of this is that everything is rapidly becoming more expensive - shipping is pricier (but slower) and our ingredients cost more every time we order them. While scaling up our operation is helping to keep costs down, the price of freeze-dried lamb had increased so much that we would've had to increase the price of our Baked Biscuit Starter Kit. By switching to turkey, we're able to keep our prices down while still maintaining the highest quality of ingredients.

What's Next?

Even though we've been busy, we're not done yet... we've got one more big announcement coming later this year, so stay tuned :)

In the meantime, have a happy Howl-o-ween!
